Upcoming Services and Events

The Parish of Central Exeter offers a variety of services, drawing upon both traditional and contemporary strands. The monthly 8.00am Sunday morning services in St Pancras use the 1662 Book of Common Prayer; the twice monthly eucharist in St Olave and the more flexible communion services at St Stephen’s use Common Worship. In addition, an informal act of worship, Meeting Point, is held in St Stephen’s twice a month.

St Stephens is the venue for Meeting Point, a form of morning prayer, usually lay-led, and often including time for discussion and/or quiet reflection. During the week a simple form of communion, using present-day language and lasting about half an hour, is held on Tuesday lunch-times in St Pancras.

In St Pancras, one Friday evening a month, there is Prayer Around the Cross, a lay-led service, which draws upon the meditative style and music developed by the Taizé community in France. Add to these such one-off services as Christmas Day and a midweek Harvest Festival in October, and the Parish can claim that, although not catering for all worshipping tastes, it offers a fairly broad spectrum.
